Dear Mosman Swans Family,

It is my great pleasure to welcome our new and returning families to the Mosman Swans for the 2020 season. Our committed volunteers have been working hard through the off season in preparation for what will be the biggest season in the club’s 22-year history.

The committee have identified 4 pillars with the express aim of providing a fun and friendly, community oriented experience for our Junior Members and their families.

Mosman Swans

Throughout 2020 our goal as a committee is that you will see and experience the Mosman Swans Junior Footy club in a new way.  The first is of these changes are apparent in our newly developed website that has been designed to provide to provide you with a simple and convenient, mobile friendly experience to access the things that are important to you.  Special call out to Tim Helyar for his efforts in pulling this together.

Roger Brandt is our new Director of Footy Coaching & Pathways and is working on ways to support our volunteer coaches and ensure those boys and girls who are seeking access to pathways programs receive the information and support they need.

We are also aiming to build a number of family friendly social activities that we hope will provide an extended enjoyment of your membership of the Mosman Swans. Stay tuned for those, we hope you’ll find them a great way to get better acquainted with other members of the Mosman Swans family.

As you may know, Mosman Council recently agreed to invest in the re-surfacing and drainage of Allan Border Oval and the redevelopment of the Pavilion.  Based on the success of the re-surfacing of Middle Head Oval we can expect that Allan Border oval will eventually be one of the best facilities in Sydney.  The upside for us is that by the mid-2020 the Mosman Swans will boast the best natural grass fields in AFL in Sydney.  This will, however, come at the expense of our ability to use Allan Border Oval for the start of the season.  Unfortunately, this will mean we need to relocate our Auskick program and some of our games in the first 5 or 6 rounds of 2020.  We are working with Mosman Council and the AFL to ensure minimum impact and we will advise any changes as soon as we can.

Our volunteering approach is to have many volunteers doing small and focussed jobs so that we don’t leave the work to a small group of regulars.  If you are interested in helping out and sharing in the rewards of making a contribution to your kids and the community please let me know – we are always keen to welcome fresh ideas and new energy.

I hope you and your families have a great 2020 season, please feel free to let me our one of our hardworking committee know if you have any questions.

Yours in footy,

Dan Musson
